I oktober 2016 lød det fra Irak ”We feel that the West has forgotten us”.

4. februar 2020:

Dear Father Faiz.

We are aware of the struggling times in Baghdad. And we understand, that Christians are under pressure.

We sincerely hope you are still able to gather in church.

Here in our church we had very nice sermons during Christmas, beautiful music and singing. And we were able to wish oneanother a merry Christmas, nothing threatening us.

We think a lot of you. And now people are asking me about the chasubel, did it ever arrive at St. George ?

Would you please take your time and tell me, if it has arrived.

Would you like more of the small white knitted cloths. We are still knitting them for baptism, you know as a gift for the family.

Please let me know.

May God be with you and your people.

Love from your friends in Kolding.

Else-Marie Therkildsen Madsen, Sct. Nicolai Church, Kolding

27. marts 2020:

Dear Father Faiz.

Thank you so much for letting me know. Actually I was very worried and sad, thinking that the chasubel had vanished. And I was blaming myself for not being careful enough in posting it.

Anyway thing are good now.

As for the situation here churches in Denmark have all closed. Only funerals can take place and only with very few relatives.

These weeks we have very strict rules and we are not allowed to gather, so families live isolated and people get very lonely.

Hopefully it will prevent this dangerous disease in spreading and infecting more.

We are all looking forward to the day where we can meet again and go to church.

I hope you are well in your congregation and that you are able to gather.

May God be with you.

Love from your friends in Kolding, Denmark

December 2019:

Dear father Faiz.

You did not hear from us for some time. That does not mean that we do not think of you and pray for you.

We do.

Also we still collect money for you, our congregation is very happy to donate.

Television and newpapers bring pictures and updates from Baghdad, and we understand that terrible things are going on. And Christians are unable to go to church.

In spite of all this I want to ask you a practical question.

Would you like to receive a chasubel from our church. We would of course send it to you with no costs for you, and maybe it would be nice to have a kind of proof of our friendship.

I am attaching a picture of it.

May God be with you all.

Love from you friends in Kolding, Denmark.

Dear Else-Marie,
Thank you so much for your email, prayers and moral support, it has been critical time in Baghdad with all protesting going on,  anyway, we are still doing our service and gratefully people still have access to our church, not all of them, but at least large percentage of the congregation.

Also, it is pleasure to accept the chasubel, it is very kind of you, much appreciated.

Blessings

Dear Father Faiz and friends in St George Church.

It was indeed so nice to have pictures from you and the movie showing life in and around your church. It helps of course our work here. Each week we collect money for you and I guess we are able to send more soon.

I want to ask you if you are interested in receiving small knitted cloths with Christian symbols on them. At our church we are around 10 women who meet and knit these small white cloths for the children who have been baptised. The priest will dry the babys head after the baptism, and the parents will keep this cloth as a memory, that is what we hope. But we have so many of these cloths, do you want any. And in case how many. I think it would be nice with crosses on them.

Please tell if you are interested.

Christians in The Middle East is a big subject in Denmark, we hope and pray that you will survive and that you will be able to live in peace and understanding with your neighbour.

May God be with you.

Lots of love from Sct Nicolai Church, Kolding

Dear friends in Baghdad.

It was wonderful to see the pictures of the congregation in Sct George on Christmas Eve. So many people gathered - and many children - to celebrate together the great evening of the year.
We very much hope and pray that the coming days and months will find you all in good health, and that you will stay protected.
Here in our beautiful church hundreds of people were gathered to hear the Christmas message and to sing Beautiful Saviour. Very impressing and touching.
We very much pray for and long for peace on earth.
May God be with you.

Lots of love from your friends in Sankt Nicolai Church, Kolding, Denmark.

Dear friends in Sct George.

We have not forgotten you. Sct Nicolai Church in Kolding, Denmark sends you our best wishes and prayers. We have been working on spreading the story of you. We have produced flyers telling about your church and your conditions, and we are now starting to collect money for you.

Here in Denmark we are so lucky to have a church with no guards and no threats. It is hard to imagine that you are suffering just because of your Christian belief. And also very wrong.

But almost every day the news about Baghdad reaches us and it seems as if conditions are getting worse.
Please remember that we are thinking of you, praying that you will get through these dark days.

Lots of love from Sct Nicolai Church.
